dianas: Saw your invite on my guestbook. Glad to join your group. Tho I cant be
as active as I dont have easy access to a personal computer while I'm at work
overseas. My long dued un-updated userpage is proof of that ._.
Ok, work sucks. Haven't had time to get on MT for ages, let alone open PS for
anything. Noticed my CSS tutorial is still up on the links. Wondering if it
requires updating due to MT3. Need some feedback. In the meantime, I go mess
around with my userpage with the MT3 templates. Mine's still stuck at MT2 .__.
Woah, a lot more members since I've last been here. Most of them unknown to me.
Anyway, hello to the new peeps! Think I'll be hanging around here around
weekends. Been ages since I worked on a new wall...
Sorry if this may seem irresponsible but think I have to drop all the request
under my name. Haven't had the time to do them since I'm serving mandatory
national service. Been in camp for quite some time now. Again, sorry
After countless hours trying to get the perfect pic, I've finally finish
mitchell's reqeust. It looks plain cause I didnt want to multilate the main pic
Requests piling up I see. I'll take unicorn2006's request then ^_^
dadong: Your slices are funny. Think the slices on the right side has too much
empty space. MT would ignore them on upload I think. Well, I use my own slices.
Its an edit of the original slices made by ecentric. Downloadable here; http://hanashi.org/UserpageTemplate.zip
I marked out the tables for quick transperant boxes with the magic
wand.
After looking around the arts forum, I notice a couple of good userpage tutorial
that fell to the back pages. Think there should be a section to link all of
them.
Re: "Gallery Highlight of the Month - YYY - review by xxx"
I've been randomly clicking around then I found this really old link on one of
the sections above. Its the UA group discussion site. Then I saw a couple of
good points. Even if the site was last modifed 12 June 2005.
"People come here to be appreciated. Some feel they are even more
unappreciated due to this group, because it ironically has an inverse
effect"
"Appreciation hasn't gone up or down, but group strategy needs to give
appreciation to those who need it."
Quote by Terra-chanThe more
experienced members would get the Highlights first and the less experienced
members will get a time to shine after they've grown some
^_^
So thinking, the main idea of the reviews was to highlight a waller's individual
style. Why not highlight the rest of the unpopular peeps? Of course, set a
mininum wallpaper count of 5-8 since you need to look at the general style of
the person uses. Great way to increase activity since the members would be
oblige to increae their activity in a group if they get featured.
The reviews too will be a great way to appeaciate each other's works. Rotating
out each review after a week to a site, maybe? Attached below is the original
idea for those who didn't read my post.

From what I see on most userpages, there's a distinguishable on the wallpapers
one does. So a thought struck me. Why not we write a review on someone in UA
that we ourself think needs more apperiation. Or just to highlight each others
individual styles that we like. Then the mods or whatever pick out the review
they think is best and do an artist feature for the month.
A sample review would be something like... "After a few failed attempts in
defining her (her cause I dont wanna sound sexist =P) own work, YYY picked a fav
style that she's best known for. Scenic background. Looking thru her collection
and you won't notice that most of her backgrounds are modified stock pictures.
Looking thru it makes you feel like you're taking a walk in nature". Thats
just a made up review about imaginary Ms YYY. Of course, this is not to saturate
each collection with the same style for most wallpapers. Its just to highlight
each member's improvements and development of skills. Whose best to see it but
within wallers themself? Kinda like a mini plug, but for within the group
itself. UserPageDesigns has something like that. So it be like a merge between
that and that mafia plug thingy.
Just a rough idea, but I bet you peeps could polish it up
In other news, my wallpaper, Fate/tarot, needs some
critique.
@Kazenone: Ahh... It looks more visually appealing and the colour balance of the
entire piece is now ok. The red was a little too glaring. Dirty green is a
dubious choice tho. It doesnt go well with bright colours especially orange. In
the other hand, the cooler colours blend perfectly on it .
@You Don't Say?: More textures I see. Can't comment on it since I can't get the
overall feel of the wall down. Kinda too paper-ish. May wanna keep that theme in
mind.
@biriwilg: No idea why my thoughts wandered to chinatown when I see that. Her
said face made me visualized a street-side wanton noodles stall with a sold out
sign hanging in front. Tho it prolly spoils the mood of the vector, think it be
funny if you actually did that. Not enough tongue-in-cheek works around here :P
Toza: There are a couple of groups on MT which helps people who are new to
walling. You should try joining them. My suggestion is to try out the functions
on PS, gimp or whatever image multipultion software you have. I'm still a n00b
in most standards (used PS primarily for editing manga), but I like to help
around ^^;
tareren: I was talking about a castle like this...
Looks semi-cool having an inverted concept (sorry for the crappy drawing. too
lazy to load ps right now ;P).
Its funny to what my first thoughts were. Since I saw clouds, my mind first told
me 'lightning'. Could work if the bottom part wasnt so orange. Then I think,
astroboy flying. Dont ask me how his name pop up. It just did .
Not much you can do to fill in the space since its just below a couple of
clouds. Why dont you try an inverted image below the cloud line. What I meant is
a scan flipped over so that it be standing on the clouds. Upside-down to our
prespective. I haven't seen that concept used on MT except for a sasuke wall. A
castle in the sky sounds cool.
Putting belldandy to fill the slot makes it look so clitched.

BTW, dont anyone have shiny swirly thingy bg tutorial? Always wanted to do one
of those, but never figured out how. Heard its just intensive use of filters
I've posted up a CSS tutorial up on the arts board for those whose interested in
more customization. Seriously thinking its not of useful or not detailed enough
to answer/help anyone since no one posting a reply after 24hrs . Or I just use complicated language? Gah...
Kinda like your pop art pieces. Here's my input... (kazenone) The glow around
the objects looks like pixelatted. I know it isnt since I went right up my
screen. Just the colour choice that created the illusion I guess. The character
needs some weight with all the red around him. Colour up his scarf
maybe?
(you dont say) "work is started" is so engrish. Did you made it that
way on purpose? Its "work has started" if you didn't anyway. The ink
splashes looks lovely. Such a simple concept.
Its screaming to me "Tech me up and give me some mean text!". To me
anyway . A techy looking crosshair with text over it maybe?
Edit: Forgot to add that the general audience prefer ecchi pieces compared to
artistic ones. Cause I think it looks really cool enough as it is...

3. Please try to make an effort and respond to these competition
notices. Please POST IN THE group guestbook whether OR NOT YOU WISH TO
participate
Woah, a group that goes to each individual member guestbook to imform them of a
contest. Sounds fun when we have 36 members . Since
I appreciate the effort, I'm gonna join fortnight competition.
Even tho everyone here scares me enough to run with my PS in between my legs.
Being new to PS and not a graphic student sure has it down points.
Gah, totally forgot about the text size after I removed the border.
Since I've gotten advice from 3 people (can I say senpai?), thought it was time
to put the wallpaper up. Minor changes to the lighting yet again. Plugged in the
group too http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/154965/
Tho I would liked a better font for the japanese text, but thoes arent easy to
come by on english sites. So m3hh...
"Hatsuyuki no samusa ga dondon karada ni susunde,
sonouchi tsurai jinsei no omoide ga kienakunaru."
"The coldness of the first snow gradually advances through my body,
and eventually the bitter memories of my life disappear."
The borders are actual a layer on its own. I added them to give a screenshot
feel to it. Yea, it looks ugly when you set it as wallpaper with the taskbar
blocking it and all. Now it looks empty again ^^;
Alright... I did some adjustments according to brom's suggestion. Darkened the
brightness a bit. Unwittingly gave the girls a tan in the process but looks a lot balanced than before. Should be good enough for posting
now.
Alright, guess this will be the first wallpaper posted here. Worked this for a
couple of hours. It completely did not turn out how I expected in pre-planning
and mid-planning, but looks somewhat cool. Just cant pinpoint whats missing on
it..
I wanted to finish it off with a grunge-style japanese text.. but that turned
out messier than I expected with the snow. So it a whole phrase instead... And
now I'm stuck . Icon space always considered.
